I've spent like, 5eva yesterday looking for a particular gacha item and completely failing to find it and man it was a drag. In the end I got something similar and technically better but which made me feel like a big sell-out because it wasn't the thing I was looking foooorrr. I was running around ALL THE YARDSALES dressed like this, which made me feel mildly scandalous, since the Charlotte top and shorts by Flowey at this months round of Collabor88 feels very much like loose satin underwear. Or pyjamas. And it very well might be! The point is, pairing it with these boots made it feel like something a lot more disreputable than it is, and I like it! I'm wearing a soft grey version here but the one I've been wearing most is the Hologram colour which is a watercoloury mix and so very pretty.

The boots themselves are by HOC Industries, an old favourite of mine which has been on a bit of a break of late but are back now yay! They're fantastic value (as HOC Industries always has been), coming with a HUD of 12 colours which can be applied to the main portion of the boot, the heel, the edging and the laces, making thousands of possible combinations!

The other day I took a snap of myself and I was under a projector light and it made the join of my neck here look all shadowed and weird. It reminded me of those rad 90s tattoo chokers that are coming back into style and I got all up on the Marketplace and found this cool one by XYZ for a cool 50L$.

Yesterday being a thoroughly gacha-based day, I dropped a ton at the new round of Fantasy Gacha Carnival. Two bits of my haul I'm wearing here are the tattoo by Identity, and my sexy scary claw by Kibbitz, which I'm wearing on the Slink Gesture hand.

My hair by Pr!tty makes me feel like a classy broad, I like the effect it has on the shape of my face. My eye makeup is by Wicked Peach at the new round of Cosmetics Fair which opens today! The theme is 90s, happily, and so I've paired it with #Adored's wonderfully understated Vague lips, all chilled out desaturated shades of grey. And I'm on a total septum piercing kick right now. Sorry, not sorry.

Phew, back from moving into my new house, which I didn't previously mention because I didn't think anyone reading this would care. Anyway it's nice and now I have superfast internet too, and must get back into the blogging saddle with this look I photographed last week and then hated the pictures and never posted and then rephphotographed today. It's all such a process.

So here we are - my gorgeous nude and lace halter dress is by Lacuna and gives me spectacular ass. My shoes are something special, everyone who's seen them has wanted them, and I can't blame them, personally I couldn't resist getting the factpack. They're by Reign and exclusive at the Anybody event, which specializes in various applier clothing and is well worth a look if you have any sort of mesh body - but also features shoes and such too.  

Because I can't do dignified and classy, I've dressed it up with a tattoo from Aitui and padded antlers from Phunk. As for my makeup, these ultra-dramatic lips from Nox are amazing and break up the whole beige and gold and brown thing I had going on. The nails are some of SL's best value for Slink nail appliers, 25 high-quality polishes for only 25L, exclusive the the Marketplace, and they also can work with the Omega system, so they can work with other brands of body parts too!

Obligatory Hair Fair 2014 Post! Part Four: Prep-hair yourself?

Ane - Sienia: Ane, best known by me for their shoes, clothes and accessories (including mouse ears!) made their hair debut at this years Hair Fair, with three excellent offerings. The first, Sienia, is a bouncy mid-length style, full at the top and wispy at the bottom, and reminds me of hair just let down from an updo.

Ane - Buns: Perfectly executed piggie buns. By this point it should be obvious that I pretend I know a thing or two about such things. This is my favourite of Ane's styles, I like the realistic way the hair is pulled close to the head, and the few loose strands escaping from the buns. I think this hair is amazing <3

Ane - Tails: With this hair, which is a loose pigtails version of Buns, I've worn the separate Bangs add-on to mix things up a little. I dig add-on bangs, they can completely transform the way a hairstyle looks with just a simple change.

Pr!tty - Kloe: I constantly love how Pr!tty's hairs look on me. Rather aptly, they just make my avatar look pretty. They don't have too much volume to make them all puffy or anything, they're just natural, soft styles which frame the face beautifully.

Pr!tty - Lanna: I really like Pr!tty's heavily-rooted textures - though I have tinted a light grey for these pictures to make it a little less bright. Lanna comes with an "optional strand" here at the front so it can look like I have an awesome streak in my hair, or, if I prefer, not!

Tram - D523: Tram is another store I always need to tint the hair from to get anything near my shade of red - in this case a similar salmon sort of shade than I use for Clawtooth hairs. I really love the slightly-too-short bangs of this hair, which I suppose I'm seeing a pattern of for me and my purchases. Hah. I'm getting predictable.

Tram - D522: Here is a perfect illustration of what I was saying before about how bangs alter a look so much. This is the same style as the above D523, but without the bangs, and it has a wholly different feel to it, framing the face all long and oval like that. In RL, this sort of pulled-back style is about as advanced as I get with my hair, and this is very similar to my RL hair.

Pr!tty - Rae: Another gentle, flattering, sleek style by Pr!tty. My best friend when I was a kid's middle name was Rae, and she hated it but I always though it was an awesome name. Her hair was nothing like this. True story.

What's your Digits? 2014

I missed the last two What's Your Digits-ing, due to general idleness. I enjoyed the original one though, making many tweaks to my own shape taking inspiration from others' digits, and generally growing as a person. It was neat, and I look some different to how I was back then. The biggest changes I've made between then and now fall into two categories: Proportion, and Concessions for mesh clothing. With fitted mesh becoming more widespread, I hope soon to revert to the latter category some. Shrinking my boobs down some, and putting more meat on my bones. I miss my belly.

Onto Strawberry Singh's questions about fitted mesh, to go with this meme:

What are your thoughts about Fitted mesh?:
I'm quite excited. It allows me just that little bit more flexibility in how I can have my shape. Right now I still wear my shape for normal mesh mainly, but I have one on standby with some of my older shape traits that I needed to give up, which makes me happy with fitted mesh.

Have you tried any of the new fitted mesh avatars released by Linden Lab? What do you think of them?
They're horrible. I'm very very very anti. I think they're a massive step backwards for new players, and will make Second Life more difficult to adapt to. They're lacking in any kind of customization options, it's like LL have said "This is your avatar" rather than letting the user define who they want to be. And they um...don't really look that good at all. They don't look like us, they look like something ported in from another game. I absolutely hate them and think they were a terrible mistake.


Have you tried any fitted mesh avatars/bodies created by residents?
I've tried WowMeh, I really really like it, in theory. I love the smoothness of it, and how turning up the various sliders increases curve, rather than just adding lumpy muscle bulk. In practice, though, there's just not enough out there for it. I'm attached to still being able to use some of my system clothes, and the system that hides parts of the body for wearing mesh clothing still needs a lot of refining. I'm looking forward deeply to the upcoming Slink Physique, which will hopefully be as widely supported by creators as the hands and feet I love so much.


Have you tried a mesh head? What are your thoughts about mesh heads?
They're not for me. I've demo'd, and just, no, they're not me. They look very pretty mostly and I welcome to wide range of fun expressions a lot of them have, like Slink Visage, but I don't want to look just like everyone else. I don't want to look just exactly like everyone else, even if everyone else is really really pretty, and I don't want to look like someone else's vision of what really really pretty is. I've been working on my shape continually for 7 years now. It's me.


Do you foresee a lot of changes to our current Second Life avatars because of fitted mesh?
I think most of the changes in this area will be due to mesh bodies becoming available, rather than the fitted mesh clothing. It's going to give us all a lot more flexibility to have some variety, I hope, and if nothing else, the fitted mesh bodies are prettier than the default.
