What's Your Digits? 2015

It's that time of year again! Digits! Actually the accidentally-annual tradition of sharing digits as proposed by Strawberry Singh is happening a couple months early this year. I've actually made surprisingly few changes since my post last year, I've mainly kept the same general proportions. Any alterations I've made are to accommodate the new mesh bodies. Which is the theme of this years thingy! So here we go with the questions!

Do you currently own a mesh body? If so, do you wear it all the time or just once in a while? If not, skip to the fourth question.

Yes. I like to think of myself as somewhat of an enthusiast or something. My first mesh body was the WowMeh, when it was still around, and now I also have the Slink Physique, the Belleza Venus, the Maitreya Lara, and the free version of The Mesh Project body. (I also own the Toddleedoo and Tweeneedoo mesh avatars for kids, but they don't really count for this discussion)
I never take it off. When mesh bodies first came out, there were lots of times when I'd stick with the traditional system avatar, but as time has gone on, there's become a lot more available that I can wear with a mesh body, both in terms of appliers and advances in the amounts and placements of alpha cuts on them. Plus, I'm really kind of lazy, so taking it off and dealing with system layers and alpha layers and all the various lumps of the avatar mesh is like bleh.

What is your preferred mesh body available on the market right now?

Currently I am back in love with the Slink Physique, since version 2 came out a couple of months ago. The twice-as-many alpha cuts is one of the practical reasons that brought me back to it, but also the change in the shape itself, with a lot of the curves being more rounded out. Previously the Slink Physique had been a bit on the lean, athletic side, and sure, you could adapt your shape to bring curve to it, but it didn't tend to look as natural as its competitors. Considering the fact that Slink is what I have most clothing appliers for, and that it has a perfect invisible seam with the new-improved Slink hands and feet, I'm delighted with it.
In terms of pure aesthetics though, I like the Maitreya Lara best, particularly now that there are appliers available for my preferred skins. It's a little softer and perkier than the Physique, has an fantastic alpha system, and also benefits from the (admittedly occasionally clunky, but very handy) Omega applier system.

Have you changed your shape since you started wearing the body?

Only in quite minor ways. A little more or less muscle hear and there, minor tweaks. Compared to last year, my shape looks pretty similar, just smoother, and a lot of the numbers are the same. I feel like I've gotten a tiny bit taller but according to the numbers that's not the case at all. I've mainly made minor changes to my face, more than my body, over the last few months, because I kind of feel like body's taken care of really. I love my proportions, most clothes fit me one way or another, and I'm not horrible and lumpy, so it's all good!

How do you feel about mesh bodies in general?

I adore them. True, they still have their limitations, particularly when it comes to wearing older clothes (I miss the ability of PROPER layering like I used to do in pre-mesh days) and that the alpha systems still aren't perfect but I feel a lot of clothing designers work around these things to an extent now. For me personally, the more "perfect" aspects of the bodies have been quite liberating. I've found myself doing a bit of (tasteful) nude photography lately without feeling weird about it just because, the mesh bodies look so unawkward. One thing that makes me sad as a general thing about them though is that they've made my alts feel almost unplayable, because I don't want to invest the sort of money in them of the body, and the skin appliers, and maybe the skins if they ones they have now don't have appliers, and clothes with appliers, and it's a whole can of investment worms that you can't really casually enter into anymore.

What is one thing you would request from designers when it comes to mesh bodies?

Gosh, I don't know. Like Berry said in her original, some kind of truly universal applier system would be cool. I'd like interfaces to be a little more streamlined. Something I loved about the Belleza Venus body was the HUD and all the various features it contained - such as changing hands/feet, and the different boob options, and also one of the reasons I never got into The Mesh Project body, because the interface and setup was so much more obscure than it needed to be. I think that's going to be one of the major aspects as time goes on, the design and features of the HUDs, because they're in almost constant use when you're dressing, with mesh bodies.

Goodness I've had a busy time. I'm still away from home but I've been all at freezing cold places adn super hot places and far too much airports (thanks, Delta) and hanging out with hyasynth from silent sparrow and Persephone Paine from Dressing in Pixels (separately) and gosh. I don't even know what's going on in Second Life right now!

Well. That's not quite accurate. Even I know the March round of The Arcade has just started!

My hair in this post is from Olive's machine at this round, called the Daisy, which is gorgeous, it's sort of like Elsa hair but not. At my feet is the newest friend from silent sparrow at the Arcade. hya has been teasing me for months with previews of these weenie dogs, which are just unbearably cute. Their little waddling walking animation. omg. Too cute. So I wish you the best of luck getting either of these and anything else you're hoping for from Arcade.

The other thing that I've been aware of this month is the big update to all the Slink body parts. First of all, the Physique mesh body has had a big overhaul, with the amount of alpha cuts being doubled to 88, making it a lot more flexible in what it's possible to wear with it. The HUD with it has been improved and streamlined too, incorporating the built-in skins and some settings which allow specific combinations of alphas to be saved for easy access. Also, the shape itself has been refined a little, adding just a bit more of the sexy curve offered by the newer bodies. I like it a whole lot, and since I have proper appliers for it and no weird neck join, I am switching back to it full time! At least until something else distracts me.

The other innovation I'm very excited about in this big update is the improvements to the hands and feet. Various utilitarian enhancements include the fact that the wrist or ankle sizes are changeable via hud now, thus saving precious inventory space, different feet can be worn individually rather than in pairs, and that the Utilities hud has been combined for the hands and feet and can be minimized, making it extremely convenient for everyday use. This hud also now offers separate glove and tattoo layers for the hands, and the thing I'm most excited about, the thing I took of my awesome Fashionably Dead oversized coat to show you? (other than my cute Noodles initial bracelet from Collabor88)

YOU CAN SET THE NAIL ART INDIVIDUALLY!!!!!!!

I am so ridiculously overjoyed about this. Each nail, hands or feet, can be a different design. This changes the world. I love it. omg. ded.

lotd070814 - Bring out your Malts!

I have dug up my male alt for his annual outing, and given him a good overhaul. He looks kind of like he's Niv's brother, I think. Sort of, kind of. I'd still hit that, anyway. Also, I am not good at photo-ing boys.

lotd250614 - Slink Physique is here and it's amazing!

Slink Physique, the highly anticipated fitted mesh body from Slink was released today, and just omg. It's so wonderful. I nearly cried when I tried it on. It's like, it's my shape but BETTER. With knees and a belly button and shoulder blades that aren't all pokey. It's so so so so so nice. I can't enthuse enough about it.
It has its limitations, for instance, you will pretty much NEED appliers for it, because there's no tinting, although it comes with a few nice tones. Pink Fuel hasn't released appliers yet, hence the choker I'm wearing to cover the very tiny seam. The only other problem about it for me is the alpha hud system, which hides out parts of the body. It needs like....more. I've found a lot of clothing, mostly strappy, which I can't get a good combination with. But with an inventory the size of mine, that's not too much of a sticking point!

Weekly Rainbow Parts: Dandelion

I was all excited when I saw that Week 9 of Luna Jubilee's 52 Weeks of Color - Part Deux would be Dandelion. But I'd had to learn to love yellow.

I suppose you could call it positive reinforcement. Once, for some reason I've forgotten, I conversationally mentioned to hyasynth Tiramisu that she was lacking representation of yellow in her store. She said words to the effect of "Yes. Yes I am." and we left it there. Among my friends, and particularly among my friends who make pretty clothes, yellow, for the most part, isn't a colour that exists. After all, it's not the most gothalicious of colours. Hell, even orange has halloween on it's side to make it respectable to people of a dark-loving inclinaition. Yellow just has sunshine and baby chicks and daffodils. Between me whining to her and also Allegory Malaprop, I've gained a reputation as a shameful yellow-lover.

For the record, my favourite colours are green and purple.

But nonetheless, in the following time, I become the emblem of yellow. If spares from gachas were to be had, and they were yellow, they were sent to me, and even the occasional "Look, I even made a yellow one! For you!" while I graciously protested that my favourite colours were really green and purple, I just thought that yellow should exist. hya even named the lovely creamy yellow version of her Fox Trees wall stickers in my honour, which made me all grinny and happyfaced.
And then a funny thing happened. Between all of this, and my shopping for Hogwarts uniform (I never really got around to RPing at Hogwarts:Your Story, but I have such an extensive Hufflepuff wardrobe) I found myself actually voluntarily choosing the yellow option of things to buy. Or sighing sadly when I saw such a thing wasn't available.

I HAD BECOME THE YELLOW-LOVER.

These days, I will happily wear yellow, and how! It's a sort of badge of pride for me. All like "Yes, yes I do like yellow" and "I'll take that yellow one" and....well, that's it really, I'm not really the sort of person who obsesses over a colour, but dammit, I will own yellow! I was already pretty fail as a goth anyway.

So here I am! With my namesake'd Fox wall sticker. Any property I own is quite lavishly decorated with various silentsparrow wall stickers. This particular shot is in my shed/outhouse.

Despite my new-ish fondness for the colour yellow, "Dandelion" was a surprisingly tough assignment for me because it's quite a delicate shade of yellow, and everything I was coming up with was too vibrant or too orange or too green or didn't show up next to my skin. I bought a whole bunch of various yellow cardigans, but in the end fell back on fri.day's Short Cardi, which is a staple in my wardrobe. I have the fatpack of it, and not only does that include a whole bunch of colours, it also has several different sleeve options. I've paired it with JANE's Hadlee denim mesh mini skirt, Whippet and Buck's I'll Be a Ghost blouse (which actually I've mangled by not wearing the bow with it, but oh well) and silentsparrow's cuppycake stars socks from the gacha there. Because now, in small quantities, yellow does exist. :D

Here's a close-up of my face in the picture. I include it for a couple of reasons - firstly, because I like it, and it's my blog. Secondly, though, to show my awesome yellow makeup. It's currently in the group notices for MOCK Cosmetics, as well as the standalone lipcolour, and I adore it. It came about from some discussion in the group chat about lipgloss colours, and someone said something along the lines of "Anything but yellow" and Mocksoup Graves was all like "I'M MAKING YELLOW" and did and gave is to us as a present because while the group has a 250L join fee, if you like makeup, it's, no word of exaggeration, the best value on Second Life. Mock is super-incredibly-awesomeface generous with gifts to her group, sometimes sending out several exclusives a day, not to mention group rewards you can pick up in store. It's a very chatty group though. I cannot stress this enough. It's almost as much a social group as an update group, and a good one at that, really nice dynamic, good people, do love. If you don't like chat, you can always close it when it opens.
I'm also wearing Beetlebones mesh lashes, because first, they're a DREAM to fit! but secondly, they have tintable tips! My historic favourite lashes have been Sin Skins, which are no longer available, but I've looked so much for tintable lashes that kept the most of the lash black, and just the tips tinted, and now I've found some lovely new up to date ones and squee <3

To drag this long post on even longer - Look how cute my nails are!! Just look at them! omg so cute! They're from one of the most recent of Sexy Mamas manicure sets, and I do love me so Sexy Mamas prim nails. They're a shape I like (not too pointy talon-y, not too long and square, just natural and pretty) and come in so very many HUD-based options, so in theory you could just keep the one pair of nails, and just change them with the various HUDs, and (and this is important for me) go up to hand size 30. Yes, I have gigantic hands. And so, look, chick nails! Little chicks popping out of eggs! Do Love. And at 199L per set, with 50 designs on each HUD, they're a fantastic bargain too! Hooray!

Weekly Rainbow Parts: Iron

So for week 4 of Luna Jubilee's 52 Weeks of Color - Part Deux challenge, Iron. Iron's easy! Iron is grey! I love grey! But that's too easy. So I made a clever pun. A wonderful, wonderful, clever pun. Ironing while wearing iron! Geddit?! IRON...ing. Uh. Yeah. So. Anyway. Astonishingly, I found that I had two choices of ironing board/iron (seriously, I'm a terrible homemaker in RL), I went for the RC Cluster one because it had a choice of glamourous clothing items to flatten.

I chose a T-shirt.

While you're reeling from the results of my tough decisions, I'll talk about more relevant stuff, for instance, my underwear. I wear this set a LOT, it's the Simplicity set from Pig, and it's just so beautifully made, while being normal, ordinary underwear. Do Love.
This look also showed me how ALREADY, rigged mesh has ruined me. I bought the awesome cardigan thingy from Pivaaca, exactly what I was looking for. But then when I was walking towards my photosphere, I found myself thinking "this cuts through me, tsk". Then, I slapped myself for being so ungrateful. I (just about) remember a time before sculpts, let alone mesh. I'm lucky to have such fantastic clothes available to me. Not everything can be the brand new shiny, and the brand new shiny isn't always the best thing. Given that I still wear some stuff from 2007, I shouldn't be a brat about that sort of thing.

But on the subject of shiny! and new, there I am rocking Slink's new mesh bare feet. I like the shape of them a whole bunch, and they were easy to get to the right colour, but I like my feet a bit bigger (like how I have gigantic hands) and it's a sadface that with mesh they're not resizeable, and there's probably very little demand for different sizes. But the toenails are colourable! Yay!
